Ride A Pet Magma mutation
Take an egg to the crater.
Magma attempts happen at the lava crater on top of the volcano. Carry an egg to the rim and use the drop prompt over the lava. Wait for the result, then take the egg home before its timer ends.

Know which part of the volcano you need
The crater is at the summit. The Dragon’s Lair is inside the mountain, reached through a small side entrance. Going to the lair is how you search for a Volcanic Egg; going to the crater is how you attempt Magma.
You can plan the crater journey separately. The footage discussed in the All Things How walkthrough includes a Bloom Egg attempt, so the procedure is not presented as exclusive to a Volcanic Egg.
Prepare before carrying the egg
Visit the summit with your flying mount and identify a direct route back to your ranch. Do this before adding an egg timer to the trip. Check that you can approach the rim and leave without getting caught on the terrain.
For a first attempt, choose an egg you are comfortable risking. Success is not guaranteed, and time spent at the crater leaves less room for mistakes on the return. A rare egg you particularly want to hatch is a poor practice item.
Wait for the on-screen result
The published walkthrough shows a drop prompt over the crater. After the attempt, read the result message before leaving. It also records a cancelled mutation when the player flies too far away, so stay in place while the attempt resolves.
The same walkthrough describes one attempt per egg and a timer penalty on failure. Do not keep repeating the drop with an egg that has already failed. Check the time you actually have left and return home.
Get the egg back safely
A successful mutation message is not the end of the trip. You still need to deliver the egg to your ranch. Take the shortest route you have already practiced, place the egg and check the pet’s mutation label after hatching.
If an attempt fails, resist adding another detour. Finishing the return gives you a chance to hatch the egg anyway. On the next run, repeat the route only after deciding whether the risk is worthwhile for that egg.
Read bonuses on your own pet
Use the game’s current labels when comparing your hatched pet with another mount. This guide covers the crater procedure; it does not promise a particular success rate, calculate expected profit or recommend a trait combination. Those decisions need more than a single recorded attempt.
If your immediate problem is simply getting faster, first compare the mounts you already own and shorten your egg route. The beginner guide gives you a straightforward progression loop without depending on a successful mutation.
